About Me

”me”

Hey there! My name is Brian and I’m a Software Engineer with a focus in backend systems. My passion for technology sprouted while I was still in high school, between tinkering away at router configurations and building IoT networks, I became captivated by the software that made it all work.

Nowadays, I’m fortunate enough to spend my days designing, building and managing resilient and secure applications for Capital One. Not much has changed though, I’m constantly looking for ways to challenge myself, improve my skills and knowledge, and find interesting ways to make the world a better place through tech!

These are some of the most recent technologies I’ve used:

  • Python 3+
  • Java
  • PostgreSQL
  • MongoDB
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes

Experience

Over the years I've had the honor to work at some pretty cool places, take a look!

Senior Software Engineer
My passion for engineering has steered my career to Northern Virginia where I currently work as a Senior Software Engineer for the Card Tech business. Contributing to the success of several partnership campaigns and modernizing monolithic processes by introducing serverless technologies, I've been able to make a tangible impact in short amount of time. I eagerly welcome my growth as I navigate this new chapter in my career.
Computer Scientist
During my tenure as a Computer Scientist I had the privilege of not only building a cross-discipline engineering team from the ground up, but also serve as the technical lead for over 10 distinct software engineering projects across the organization. My proudest accomplishment was the design and development of a containerized Python based data aggregation web app, that was utilized by analysts and investigators to help fuel an international operation that resulted in over one hundred criminal arrests.
Computer Scientist-Field Operations
As a field operative I was the primary technical liaison for incidents pertaining to the Miami area. I utilized my background in engineering to create automated pipelines to analyze computer logs, network traffic and other digital evidence related to a case. My most prominent contribution involved tracing a criminal across the dark web and gathering enough digital evidence to be able to prosecute them in a court of law.
Device Manager
During my time with Florida International University, the FIU Green Library was home to over 100 portable electronic devices, 60 desktop stations and 2 multimedia rooms. My main responsibility was to ensure that all of these devices were updated, charged and accounted for every morning. In addition, I provided training for technical and non-technical employees and oversaw the periodic maintenance of devices across two of FIU’s other campuses.
